Digitizing the University of Kentucky Herbarium through citizen science!
The University of Kentucky Herbarium holds specimens from some of Kentucky's most notable botanists, such as Mary Warton, Charles Short, Willem Meijer, Ray Cranfill, Julian Campbell, and more. As of April 4th, 2026 the herbarium has basically 0% of its 60,000 specimens digitized. With a 100% volunteer-based approach, we hope to digitized the entire herbarium within 2 years.
